I think it’s safe to say that we are ALL suitably fulfilled and exhausted following the last couple of weeks celebrating the various events that took place between the 7th and which end tomorrow - 18th May!
From the 59-strong group show at the Original Gallery in Hornsey Library, to exhibiting with sponsor and estate agent Philip Alexander, the two-day trail itself at Holy Innocents last weekend, and being part of the Rokesly Auction raising vital funds for an art room for Rokesly Infant and Primary School!!
This was my 3rd annual, and I must say I always learn so much from these occasions.
This year’s response to my work felt extra special and enlightening and, of course, the conversations and the people! Yet it is the progression that struck me the most.
I used to be so impatient and wanted everything complete and achieved yesterday, but I’ve learnt the beauty of slow craft beyond the creative process itself.
It’s important to remember that the artistic path is truly individual and undefined and, in a world where time always seems to be at a premium, it’s totally ok to take your time.
It’s ok to feel the pressure and let it be.
Beyond that, I feel my own individual path really starting to define itself for me.
As artists, we must not rest on our laurels or behind the proverbial easel and, through a continuous effort to engage with people and back myself, I feel a growing sense of clarity — both in the path and within myself.
I hope these reflections reach someone today and send a message of continuity and hope.
